Lord Krishna & Pondruk

Lord Vishnu had incarnated in many forms in order to kill the Demons and protect people from evil. In his Krishna Avtar, he eradicated many evils. One of these was Pondruk, who called himself false Vasudev

Incidentally, father of Pondruk was named Vasudeva, so he liked to call himself Vasudev Pondruk. After hearing the stories of Krishna he considered himself to be Vasudeva. He had gained many divine weapons from Lord Brahma by performing harsh penance

He had emulated all the symbols of Krishna, such as peacock wing, Mace, Conch, Chakra, and Shargam bow. He had malice with Krishna and wanted to prove himself superior than Krishna.

Pondruk became the king of Pondrapur by conspiring against his uncle Viramani. After becoming king, he declared that he was God, and all the people should idolize him. Who did not obey this commandment, Pondruk used to give him the death penalty.

Pondruk had won several nearby states on the strength of his power and had formed a large army. He used to take revenue from all those states. He told all those kings that he is the Lord of the world, not Krishna. Soon he will defeat Lord Krishna in the war with the help of his divine weapons. Therefore, he should be worshipped all over the world

The Rendezvous of Pondruk and Divit

Power of Pondruk had vastly increased. The ape named Divit, who was the friend of Narkasur came to Pondruk. Divit was riled with Krishna after the killing of Narkasur. He was an awful and powerful ape. That ape forced the people to obey pondruk as God.

Lord Hanuman was very angry at Pondruk but, by the command of Lord Krishna, he quietly moved to his place of residence, The mountain Ghandmadan.

Lord Krishna gave another chance to  Pondruk to improve. Once upon a time, Lord Hanuman had paid the lotus flowers to Krishna. The same lotus flowers were sent by Lord Krishna to the palace of Pondruk by his elusive lore. The fragrance of the flowers had made the whole atmosphere fragrant. Then the wife of Pondruk, Devi Tara asked,"These lotus flowers belong to mountain Ghandmadan. How did they come here?"

Divit made Lord Hanuman captive and took him to the court of Pondruk. King Pondruk delighted to see Hanuman being trapped. He appreciated the Divit. Hanuman tried to convince Pondruk, but arrogant Pondruk insulted Lord Krishna and Lord Hanuman and called himself the Lord of the world.

Lord Hanuman became angry and said,"I have come here by the inspiration of Lord Krishna to convince you. Otherwise, no one can bind me to any bondage."

By saying this, Lord Hanuman lifted Divit from his tail and razed the court of Pondruk. Hanuman left injured Divit in the court. Then Lord Hanuman went to the mountain Ghandmadan.
