GANGA: A polluted river or a sacred river?
The holy river GANGA is considered as one of the most auspicious and cultural rivers. It is said that the river GANGA is present on the earth from ages.thus, it is considered as one of the most ancient rivers which hold a long history.
According to Hindu mythology, river GANGA originates from LORD SHIVA'S head and therefore it is worshipped as a GODDESS.
IN SPITE of being considered as a goddess, it is too shameful for every citizen of our country that our most prestigious river GANGA is also considered as one of the most polluted rivers.

According to the latest updates, KANPUR, U.P is the state where Ganga river is present in its most polluted form. Kanpur is said to be the state with the highest production levels of leather. Thus, as a result, people throw the industrial wastes in the river which makes it polluted. not only Kanpur, but there are many other states also where the holy river GANGA is being polluted like this.
It's very embarrassing to note that the counties where rivers are only considered as rivers are capable enough to take care of their rivers, whereas in India, where rivers are regarded as a goddess cannot be taken good care of.
It's not only the government, rather its a duty of every citizen to take care of their heritage sites. The government has launched many programmes for making the river Ganga clean but they cannot achieve their aim till the time people start actively participating in these programmes.
At last, I want to conclude by saying that, IF WE REALLY CONSIDER OUR RIVERS AS GODDESS THEN WE MUST TAKE CARE OF THEM, OR OTHERWISE IF WE DO NOT BELIEVE IN MYTHS, THEN WE MUST NOT FORGET THAT PROTECTING AND PRESERVING OUR VALUABLE HERITAGE IS ONE OF THE duties OF OURS.
